“skin so deep” and “pictured rocks” are machine needle felting. “protozoans” is hand embroidered in the Kantha style. “vault” is a densely quilted hand appliqued quilt. “marine biological laboratory” is a stitched assemblage of newspapers, magazines, polyacrylamide gels and stitched facsimiles, and photographs.
